Cebularz ( onion cake) Lublin is the 37th Polish product protected in the European Union. This delicacy derived from Jewish cuisine for Lubliners is as important as oscypek cheese for highlanders. It's a wheat cake covered in a thick layer of onion mixed with poppy seeds. The recipe was created in the nineteenth century. Jews from the Lublin Old Town were the first to bake, and before World War II it became a delicacy throughout the Lublin region.
